You sound new to the list, I'm going to recommend you also check out lunar
impacts during the Geminids. For us to see them, they have to be of some
size and may would have been fireballs in our atmosphere. The online site
for lunar impacts is:   http://www.nasa.gov/centers/marshall/news/lunar/ 
the brightness can give clues to size and speed for known showers.
The IMO has fireball reporting for observed Earth events.
