May 10/11 & 11/12, 2010
We were lucky to have two consecutive nights to observe for Eta Lyrids
last week. The average ELY was around 1.75 magnitude. There were none
seen brighter than 0 magnitude, but the best meteors seen was a 0 magn.
blue-white colored ELY seen at 5:08 on the morning of May 11th, and a 0
magnitude blue-green colored sporadic with a 3 second train seen at 6:11
UT on the morning of May 12th.
After dark on May 10th, while looking at comet C/2009 K5 McNaught, there
were 3 or 4 meteors seen coming from the area near the star delta Bootis
from 1:00 to 2:30 UT seen incidently. These rates were from casual watching
only, and during that period only one other meteor seemed to be a sporadic.
