Dear fellow meteor hunters,

The Leonids ZHR curve at the IMO website has now been activated. Koen
Miskotte and Richard Taibi already provided the first data points!

http://www.imo.net

Please remember to submit data intervals as short as (reasonably) possible
throughout 16-17-18 November; perhaps not exceeding +/- 30 minutes and
preferably as short as 5 to 10 minutes.

Even when the activity appears low (e.g. due to low radiant elevation or
poor sky) you may unknowingly be observing an outburst. For example, a
10-minute outburst of ZHR=100, observed under a radiant altitude of 30
degrees and Lm=5.5, will theoretically produce only 4 visual meteors.
Nevertheless, when these 4 meteors are reported in a short interval (e.g. 15
minutes), they will help to uncover the outburst profile when worldwide data
is added together.

Good luck with the weather!
Geert
