Hi all,
I was out observing last night at Bootland Farm (Oct 5/6 2010 for an
hour centered around 01UT or 9pm EDT), and I saw/plotted a few
possible candidates for October Camelopardalids. They seemed to line
up perfectly with the radiant position indicated in Bob Lunsford's
weekly outlooks.
Interestingly, a couple of meteors *might* be early Draconids. Need
to review my plots to check this.
Even more interestingly, something seemed to be going on with the
Delta Aurigid radiant! I saw a handful of long and very swift
earthgrazers that lined up with that radiant, which lurked just 7
degrees or so from the horizon! This was certainly the most
surprising aspect of my short session.
After one hour, encroaching clouds forced me to sign off. On my way
out, it cleared up again but I wasn't able to stay due to a busy
workday the next morning. Full report will be submitted soon, but did
anyone else notice these meteors?
I'm looking forward to monitoring the skies for any Draconids these
coming nights :)
- Pierre
