I had planned to view the late July/early August meteor activity on four mornings. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and I
was only able to view on one night. Even that night was somewhat hazy and far from from the normal pristine mountain skies. Despite
the impressive limiting magnitudes I achieved, the sky was somewhat milky, especially in the western half. Despite the hazy
conditions, the Milky Way was visible down to 10 degrees in the southwest and impressive in the eastern half of the sky. Meteor
activity was less than expected, especially for the Delta Aquariids. I also videotaped the activity from 0800-1100. I would have
taped the entire session but two of my batteries were DOA. The other two only provided half the usual time. Looks like it's time for
either new batteries or camcorder. Breaks were often necessary to change the batteries and tapes in the video recorder.
