Also, if you look at the earth below, it appears to be cloudy. And daytime.

Several sources have reported that the ISS was over China when the image was
made.

Given the fairly small surface area any particular meteor can be seen, the
likelihood of this one being imaged from beneath is pretty small. 
But it would make for a great pair of images.
