Although I haven’t used it (I have a Droid), I think it is a good idea, especially if you can reduce the brightness of the screen. It might help attract new observers if they can record their data into an electronic gizmo. I may be the last person left that records data with a pencil and roll of cash register tape! ;->>

The app was designed so that an observer would be able to count meteors without taking their eyes off the sky, using audio feedback/recording and a piano style keyboard. The intent is for the device to be placed so that it is hidden from the observer's eyes, so as not to spoil dark adaption.

We are in the "1st cut" stage, and will incorporate feedback from users in later versions, and in the upcoming Android release. My hope is to eventually come up with a useful tool for meteor observers.
