Dear meteor enthusiasts,

No doubt you are aware that the 30th International Meteor Conference will
take place in the beautiful town Sibiu, Romania, from September 15 till 18,
2011 (http://www.imo.net/imc2011/index.php).
Just before the IMC, two workshops will be organized in Sibiu: the Radio
Meteor Workshop and the Meteor Orbit Workshop (
http://www.imo.net/imc2011/workshop.php).

This mail is specifically intended to inform radio meteor workers about the
Radio Meteor Workshop (September 14-15).
Though this will be a rather short workshop, the program is very
interesting, both for beginners and experienced radio observers (see below).

If you are a radio meteor observer and didn't register yet, I warmly advise
you to attend the Radio Meteor Workshop and the IMC.
In order to register for the Radio Meteor Workshop, send an e-mail to both
radio at imo.net and "Valentin I. Grigore" <sarm.ro at gmail.com>.

These are the topic that will be addressed in the Radio Meteor Workshop

1) Introduction to radio meteor observations
  - Basic physical principles of radio meteor observations
  - Hints and Tricks
  - The BRAMS radio meteor network: installing the antennas and receivers

2) Acquisition software
  - SpectrumLab

3) Detection software
   - Meteor detection software for the BRAMS network

4) Data analysis
   - Meteor science from radio meteor observations: an overview
   - Calculating orbits from meteor head echoes

5) Coordination of Draconids 2011 observations

6) ELF/VLF observations
   - Basics for newcomers
   - VLF observations in Belgium

7) Interferometry
   - First experiences with the BRAMS interferometer

8) Towards a common radio meteor data format for the Virtual Meteor
Observatory? (optional)

See you in Sibiu!

Best regards,
Cis Verbeeck
