(meteorobs) Point Meteor or Flaring Satelite

As Chris pointed out, I did a simulation a few years ago that indicates
for a random set of meteors only 1 in 10,000 will appear as a point
meteor from a particular observation site. For the simulation, a point
meteor was declared when the projection of the entire meteor track on
the sky subtended no more than 5 arc-minutes. A little more than the
human resolution limit. There is a paper I published in WGN, Journal of
the IMO 30:5 (2002) pp 149-151 on this topic.
