I went out again this morning (Saturday 22 October). It was warmer than Friday morning and the Orionids were more active. For quite a while there was a lot of haze and thin clouds, but eventually it cleared. I went to my usual spot at McFarland Park NE of Ames. I saw no fireballs from either the Orionids or the Taurids. I think a younger person observing with a little better limiting magnitude might have seen quite a few more faint Orionids.
