Subject: (meteorobs) Perseids From Yosemite

Hello Observers,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Perseid Meteor Shower as much as I did!

I didn't want to have any issues with clouds, so a few days before the peak
I scanned the national weather reports and decided Yosemite would be an
ideal observing location.

The night of the peak I counted about 250 meteors and caught almost
100 on film. I was running 2 DSLRs from the top of Sentinel Dome and had
majestic 360 degrees views from 8,000 feet up.

Here are some pictures of the best meteor shots.

I'm especially happy with the Pleiades composite. I was able to capture the
19 meteors used in the composite in about 45 minutes. I used an astrotrac
portable tracking mount and it worked especially well with composites. I
just wish I held the shot a little longer.

Thanks,
