Hello Meteor Observers,

I hope you all enjoyed the Quadrantids. It was a good show from north
central Maryland with almost no clouds.

I setup a plethora of cameras this year including 2 DSLRs, 3 security
cameras pointed at the sky and 1 new all sky camera.

It was the first night I used the allsky camera and I don't think I
ran the software right because i caught 0 meteors with it. Does anyone
have experience using meteor mode with handy AVI?

One of my DSLRs filled up the memory card after about an hour and I
didn't realize it.

Other than those 2 problem I got pretty good results. I caught 8
meteors on the primary DSLR using a near allsky fisheye lens.

I was a little disappointed with the DSLRs performance after examining
the video as I caught over 50 meteors with the security cameras!

To my surprise, the vast majority of these were in the southern skies
at a low elevation angle (just out of the DSLRs FOV). 95% of them came
in between 2 and 5 am.

One interesting highlight -- I caught 2 meteors in the same DSLR
exposure, while reviewing the video I found the event on film and both
meteors happened at the same exact second.

I put together a compilation youtube video with a of all of the best
video meteors and also a composite image of 6 of the best meteors
caught on the DSLR.

Happy 2012!
