The far East side of the Maui has good darkness along the Hana Highway,
there is a road leading to the shoreline that is isolated from car lights
called Haneoo Road with a turnout for the beach. You can see Alau Island
from there. This is sea level, however.

Subject: (meteorobs) Perseids in Maui

Hi there,

Geez, it's been maybe 5yrs since I've posted on meteorobs. Not much
observing of late... Maybe because I'm not single anymore. However, I and
the family will be in Maui the week off the Perseids this year. I've been
there before... Other than driving up to Haleakala, does anyone know where a
good viewing area may be on the west or north side of the island?
