Dear Colleagues,
My co-Conveners and myself would like to draw your attention to Session SB2:
"Observing and modelling meteoroid entry in planetary atmospheres"
as part of the European Planetary Science Congress 2012 to be held in
Madrid, Spain, between the 23rd and 28th September 2012
A description of the Session may be found at
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EPSC2012/session/11489
As the title implies, we welcome contributions on the processes taking
place "when meteoroid meets air" (ablation, fragmentation, etc) as well
as the observational consequences or effects. These effects include, but
are not restricted to, light emission (i.e. meteors), the deposition of
meteoric constituents in the upper atmosphere, or meteorite landing on
the planetary surface. Although we expect that much of the theoretical
and observational work focuses on the Earth's atmosphere, we are keen to
both attract and motivate research that will highlight the importance of
the discipline for comparative planetology. For this reason, we
encourage contributions that relate to atmospheres other than the
Earth's, from Venus' to Triton' s and those of exoplanets.
To submit an abstract, just follow the above internet link and click on
"Abstract Submission". Further information, including instructions on
style and format, may be found at
http://www.epsc2012.eu/abstract_management/how_to_submit_an_abstract.html
The deadline for submissions is the 23rd of May (Wednesday).
We hope that you will find this session an appropriate forum for
presenting your work
and we look forward to see you in Madrid.
Please forward this information to other researchers who might be interested.
Sincerely,
Apostolos Christou
