Currently monitoring 55.239 MHz while listening on-line to streaming audio of the USAF Space Surveillance RADAR located south of Wichita Falls, Texas. Activity is low this morning. During the peak yesterday, activity was moderate with frequent head echoes and a few trail echoes, some lasting for up to three seconds, which is fairly long for the 216 MHz frequency.

Several trail echoes on the 55.239 MHz frequency lasted for 30 to 60 seconds.

Unfortunately, I don't have an automated method for counting radio meteors. Andy Smith, G7IZU, is posting his monitoring results at the following URL:

Remember that each analog TV channel includes three video carrier frequencies. For channel 2, that includes 55.239, 55.249 and 55.259 MHz. Here in the Dallas, Texas area, echoes can be heard on all three frequencies. However, direct carrier signals are often heard on the 55.249 MHz frequency indicating tropospheric propagation.
