Greetings again meteor folks,
I decided to venture out into the pre-dawn this morning to look for
AURs from my trusty roof top observing site here in St. Augustine. Early
evening thunderstorms washed the skies beautifully clear and I enjoyed two
hours of top notch skies with a bit of distant lightning to the NE from
thunderstorms out over the ocean, "riding the Gulf Stream" as they so often
do here in late summer.
The AURS were noticeable, although not numerous. I saw 10 AURs in the
two hours along with 29 others to make 39 total meteors in two hours Teff.
I sure did miss a sky filled with PERs, though...;o). Here is the data:

Aug. 31/Sep 1, 2013 Observer: Paul Jones, Location: 5 miles southwest of
St. Augustine, Florida, LM: 6.5, clear with some distant lightning, Facing:
South

0330 - 0430 EDT (0730 - 0830 UT) Teff: 1.0 hour, no breaks

4 AUR
2 ANT
1 SPE
13 SPO
20 total meteors

0430 - 0530 EDT (0830 - 0930 UT) Teff: 1.0 hour, no breaks
6 AUR
1 ANT
12 SPO
19 total meteors

Mags:

AUR: 0(1), +2(2), +3(3), +4(2), +5(2)
ANT: 0(1), +1(1), +3(1)
SPE: +3(1)
SPO: 0(1), +1(1), +2(1), +3(5), +4(4), +5(3)

A couple of the AURs left nice trains. The zero mag AUR was seen way to my
north over the light dome of St. Augustine and may well have actually been
a bit brighter than zero, had I seen it overhead. The two brighter ANTs
were both beauties, the first one was golden in color and the second one
was a lovely blue-white.  All in all, it was a pretty rewarding session;
however, I fully admit to being spoiled hopelessly by the recent ETAs in
May and the magnificent PER performance last month.
I have to keep reminding myself that I can't expect that kind of activity
each time I get out. Sure would be nice, though...;o).

Clear skies to all, Paul in north Florida
