Dear meteor observers,

Here is my observation report from the Ursids activity during the peak
night 22/23 Dec 2014.
I observed from south-eastern France, in the french Alps (at 1270 m height)
with a clearly sky without clouds.
My limiting magnitude was near 5,0.

I started to observe at 21h23 UT and stop at 01h10 UT.

Pause during : 22h09 UT to 22h15 UT and 22h52 UT to 22h58 UT.

It was a good show and surprising to see many ursids because normally ZHR
reach 10 .

We have a enhanced activity with 11 Ursids in 30 minutes in the period
23h45 UT - 00h15 UT,
and especially 7 Ursids in 15 minutes in the period 23h45 UT - 00h00 UT.

Here is my summary report : (hours in UT)

21h23 - 21h51 UT LM=4.62 1 URSIDS -3 mag. with train

21h51 - 22h09 UT LM=4.85 1 URSIDS 4 mag.

22h15 - 22h45 UT LM=4.85 0 URSIDS

22h45 - 22h52 UT LM=4.90 1 URSIDS 2 mag. short

22h58 - 23h20 UT LM=4.90 2 URSIDS 3 mag. and 4 mag. short

23h20 - 23h45 UT LM=5.22 3 URSIDS 3 mag. (x2) and a 1 mag.

23h45 - 00h15 UT LM=5.22 11 URSIDS -2 mag. to 4 mag. (with a
beautiful -2 mag. meteor , long train, and a blue color)

00h15 - 00h45 UT LM=5.40 4 URSIDS -1 mag. to 3 mag. (with a
bright -1 mag., long and yellow color)

00h45 - 01h10 UT LM=5.46 2 URSIDS 2 mag. and 4 mag. short

So, 25 Ursids were observed with Teff=3.58.
Number of sporadic meteors = 20.

I note that the method used was tape recorder.

It was a good observation night with many meteors, and especially around
00h UT with a clear enhanced activity.

Clear skies !

Jens Lacorne.
