(meteorobs) May Camelopardalid plans

Here in central Alberta we have the advantage of a very high radiant and a
predicted peak that straddles local midnight when the sky is darkest.
Perpetual twilight is still a minor concern; we would do better to be 2-3
degrees south of here. May indeed wind up heading in that direction,
although at this point the plan is for a small group of us to possibly head
right into Saskatchewan, likely a 4-5 hour drive in hopes of reaching "open
wide" skies.

Fortunately for me, our master planner (and primary driver!) is a skilled
meteorologist with a long history of nailing forecasts for astronomical
purposes, be they meteor showers, eclipses, occultations or what have you.
Alister & I have gone on a few chases together, not very many of the wild
goose variety. Such as the 2007 Aurigids, to mention just one that list
members might recall.

Wish us luck. And the same to you.

Clear skies!!

Hi:

Our weather "broke" for about 2.5 hours last night so took advantage of
what ever I could get. Observed from 0030 UT to 0300 UT before more clouds
rolled in. saw 6 satellites, 4 planes and zero meteors :( Went to sleep and
set alarm for 3am - woke up to freakin fog again!

Forecast - if we believe them - partly cloudy tonight - mainly cloudy
tomorrow.. so may be cutting it close.. I'll take 60% clouds with big sucker
holes!

Clear skies
