I went out for four hours Monday morning. At the beginning of the session the sky was about as good as it gets at my usual site. The corn and soybeans have dried and harvesting is underway so less likely to have ground fog.
McFarland Park Observatory 4 miles NE of Ames, Iowa. Long 93 deg 34 min W; Lat 42 deg 05 min N; elevation 1,043 feet.
Shower meteors looked for: EGE, LMI, ORI, STA, TCA. No apparent LMI's or TCA's seen.
The session got off to a bad start with no shower meteors seen during the first hour. No Orionids were seen till the third hour. I finally left because I saw so few Orionids.
