The best night of the week following some rain gave us superbly
clear skies last night. Two nights ago it was clear for only a short
time, but one possible Omicron Draconid meteor candidate was
seen casually, as was a beautiful -1 magnitude Beta Perseid Earth
Grazer, but clouds returned quickly. However, last night was really
good transparency. Despite the rather high number of sporadics
seen, none were seen from the putative Omicron Draconids. There
was also a couple of Peresids and good activity from the Antihelion
source the second hour. The structure observed in the Milky Way was
wonderful due to the excellent transparency. The dark nebulae among
the star clouds was inky black.
