Hi Bob:

> Looks like you have had some good luck on catching radio meteors.

So far, been doing it since 1998. When they took most of the analogue TV stations away my rates dropped
and I searched for frequencies to use, they left a few analogue transmitters about so I heard a few. Then
saw that article and Youtube item posted to this group on digital TV radio meteor scatter.. so
my old Icom R-10 receiver was pretty well shot and well, old.. so bought the Icom R-20 - $800 Cdn! began
to listen to the frequencies and messed with them, until I began hearing a bit more so stayed with my old frequency.

> I am however curious about your notch filter. What make /model# is it? How do you tune the narrow filter so accurately?

It was made way back in the early 1990's by a professor at a university here, he was a ham operator and taught radio astronomy
at the university... I mentioned about meteor detection and we spent 3-5 months trying to figure it all out.

because i live in a city I have lots of FM/TV stations overwhelm me and thus he sold me that home made filter.
We use to tune it using a spectrum analyizer to the desired frequency.

But now, that radio astronomy program was shut down years ago...and he had passed away last year.

So, what I do is go to a TV station - say ch.4 at 67.25 MHz , I listen for the hard tone and that is as close as I can get to tuning the
filter. I then use the minus off set frequency... but now I can use some digital TV ones and so far the 83 MHz region is my best ones
so far as there are 3 DT and 1 analogue transmitters about.

So far rates are good... in the 40/hr right now.. most likely will drop off later by 1pm. Then the 6th -9 the will be my main target to see what
I get...
