0652 UT (12:52 am CST) - 12 STA: At its brightest, a very big (half the diameter of the Moon), very bright (surface brightness brighter than surface of full Moon), white, smooth-edged ball with "fringe" of reddish sparkles on the trailing side, which very quickly tapered to a narrow yellow wake.  No train.  Meteor did not flare or breakup.  It traveled about ten degrees.  Began several degrees from Aldeberan in the Hyades and ended a few degrees above Betelguese in Orion.  Very nice!!!

My usual place on dead end road near Adams Observatory, McFarland Park 4 miles NE of Ames, Story County, Iowa.

Note: Assignment to NTA or STA often uncertain, especially for meteors beginning a long ways from the radiant areas!

The Chinese couple came again tonight bringing another person.  They stayed from 11 pm to 12:30 am, so missed the bright fireball.  The county deputy was coming up the road as I was leaving.
