Subject: (meteorobs) Announcing the arrival of MeteorNews online website and e-zine devoted to the advancement of worldwide amateur meteor science

Good morning all,

Today there is a wealth of meteor data circulating on the internet, but
this information is very scattered and not directly available to
everyone. Some meteor workers have been considering how to organize an
easy access to the many different meteor-related postings and publications. The
best solution for the current needs of amateur meteor observers proved
to be a dedicated website combined with a PDF journal, both being free and
available to all without any subscription fee or registration requirement.

The authors decided to start with this project and in March 2016 the
website meteornews.org<http://meteornews.org/> has been created. The year 2016 will be a test
period for this project. The mission statement of this project is:
"Minimizing overhead and editorial constraints to assure a swift
exchange of information dedicated to all fields of active amateur meteor work."

The website, http://meteornews.org<http://meteornews.org/>, and its e-Zine
http://meteornews.org/first-issue-e-zine-meteornews/ are both freely
available without any registration or subscription requirement. We
hope to reach many people worldwide and boost the outreach for meteor
astronomy for all.

Everyone is most welcome to contribute content. Regular contributors are
encouraged to ask for a log on ID and PW for write access. The current
team of editors is introduced here:
http://meteornews.org/editorial-board/. Active meteor workers are also very
welcome to join the team of volunteers as an editor behind this project.

Posts on MeteorNews.org can include photos and/or videos. Once posted
to MeteorNews, a new posting can be shared via mailing lists and
social media, providing much more information than what is often possible
in these media by themselves. MeteorNews is meant to be complimentary to existing tools and services in meteor astronomy to promote meteor science and
active observing work. We invite and encourage contributions and involvement from all who are interested in meteor science.

Clear skies to all,

Paul J in North Florida (for the entire worldwide editorial team of MeteorNews)
