Date/time of observation: 1 Dec 2004
Location of site: Sangkhlaburi, Thailand (Lat 15°09' N, Elev 200m)
Site classification: Exurban
Sky darkness: 6 <Limiting magnitude>
Seeing: 5 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Moon presence: None - moon not in sky
Instrument: 15 inch Obsession f4,5
Magnification: 131 & 342x
Filter(s): OIII at 342x
Object(s): NGC 7048
Category: Planetary nebula.
Class:
Constellation: Cyg
Data: mag 12,1 size 61"
Position: RA : DEC :
Description:
At 131x I could observe faint round disk attached to an 11mag star. NGC 7048 is
located in a very rich star field an was not easy to locate. Increasing the
magnification to 342x and using an OIII filter does improve the contrast
between NGC 7048 and the background a little bit. The nebula is still round and
structureless, though. At 342x without OIII I could make out traces of an
elusive faint star that is embedded towards the W edge of NGC 7048. As the
seeing was quite bad, I could only hint a brightening where this star should be
located.
