Description:
NGC 5904 – M5 – GC – Serpens – Mag 5.8 – WOW! Better than M13 by a long shot.
Small dese core with big loose periphery. 2 brighter 12 man stars in
periphery. One is to the southeast, the other is on the western edge of the
core. Resolved easy at 150x with the 10.5mm pentax xl. Lots of pretty chains
intruding dark lanes to the west. East is ‘blocked off’ with almost a sharp
edge. Not at all symmetrical, couple of small dark lanes in the northwest
core, due north of the bright core star.
