Instrument: 6" Newtonian F/6.7
Magnification: 170x
Filter(s): None
Object(s): M 64
Category: External galaxy.
Class: Sb
Constellation: Com
Data: mag 8.5 size 9.3x5.4
Position: RA 12:56.7 DEC 21:41
Description:
This galaxy was clearly visible in my 50mm finder, near the star 35 Comae. At 170x the "black eye" in this galaxy was clearly visible north of the core of this galaxy. The part south of the core seemed to be fan shaped. With extreme averted vision, the core became larger and the black eye smaller, encompassed by a fainter part of the galaxy. This very much resembled the image of M64 at seds.org, though the black eye was less obvious. Very impressive indeed!
