Description:
Nice group of 3 galaxies that just fit into the FOV of the 13mm Nagler at 131x
magnification (38').
NGC 4527 (10,5magv, 6x2'): At 342x NGC 4527 is visble as a bright 5x1' edge-on
galaxy with a nearly stellar core. N of the center hints of a dark lane are visible.
High surface brightness.
NGC 4536 (10,6magv, 7,6x3,2'): NGC 4536 features the same brightness as its
neighbor 4527 but it is much bigger in size (5x3') and the halo has a fairly low
surface brightness. At 342x I could see get a glimpse of the anti-clockwise spiral
structure of the galaxy. The spiral is very open (Sd or SBd) and reminds me very
much of M106. The E arm of the spiral is slightly brighter than the opposite arm.
Beautiful!
NGC 4533 (13,8magv, 2x0,4'): Located between NGC 4527 and 4536 is NGC 4533.
It is closer to 4536 just S of the 2 bright stars that are located in the middle
between 4527 and 4536. NGC 4533 is very faint and does not show any detail
other than its elongated 1,2x0,5' disk. No core or nucleus visible. Easily overlooked
due to its location close to the 2 stars and bright NGC 4536.
