Object(s): 3C273
Category: Quasar or lens.
Class:
Constellation: Vir
Data: mag 12,5magv size -
Position: RA : DEC :
Description:
Very bright and slightly blueish. Forms a triangle (2') with a 13,5mag and a faint
14,5 - 15 mag star. Easy to find. There is a couple of interseting galaxies in the
vicinity of 3C273, such as NGC 4517, 17A and the group NGC4527/33/36. Those
objects make the hunt for 3C273 more fun as the quasar itself just appears as a
bright stellar object. It is the imagination of 3C273's distance of 1,9 billion light
years that make it a "have to-target" in springtime.
