Description:
A faint, uniform oval halo elongated nearly N-S. It shows slight, gradual,
diffuse brightening toward the core. A 12th magnitude field star is located
just off the NE edge. The galaxy is ~5' NW of the W. end of a line of 4 11th
magnitude stars aligned E-W and covering a span of 20'. Visible with averted
vision at 77x, it did not bear magnification well and was best seen at 128x.
