Location of site: Boca Raton (Lat , Elev )
Site classification: Urban
Sky darkness: 4,0 <Limiting magnitude>
Seeing: 7 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Moon presence: None - moon not in sky
Instrument: Borg 77mm ED refractor
Magnification: 28x, 57x, 139x
Filter(s): UHC, OIII
Object(s): NGC2022
Category: Planetary nebula.
Class:
Constellation: Orion
Data: mag 12.0 size
Position: RA 05:42 DEC +09:05
Description:
Object found off Lambda-Orionis. The planetary nebula is siutated just east
of two magnitude 7/8 stars and is spaced about as far from the eastern most
star as the duo of stars are separated. Under severe light pollution and with
a 77mm aperture telescope, the object is barely visible with averted vision
and careful scrutiny. I observed the object for around 1-hour. With small
aperture (i.e. 77mm) the UHC and OIII filters did not help - they rendered the
view too dim to identify NGC 2022.
