Lew,

You wondered about the various factors responsible for meteor colors.  I
personally feel that most of the colors that is perceived is probably due to
atmospheric reactions to the meteoroid and within the eye itself.  I don't
think everyone's color cones receives light and interprets to our brain  is
all that universal.  No doubt some colors will result from the meteor's
composition itself. But I think atmosphere and eyeballs for the most part are
responsible.
