On a serious note and as a warning, snakes DO move at night as this is THE
reason I moved from ground observing to truck observing. One night a couple
of years ago, I was preparing to get out of my lawn chair to stretch and
take a break. Upon that movement, a rattlesanake within a couple of feet of
my chair "announced" itself.

I know it wasn't there at the start of my observing because I always search
when setting up for a ground dweller I forgot to mention earlier, the
dreaded, swarming, fire-breathing, FIRE ANT. Lew, for the New Englander
folks I'll be glad to ship a sample of these critters for free! :->
