Re: (meteorobs) Meteor photography

Neil and others,

Well, I tried two nights using HP-5 film in my camera. Night before last, I
don't think anything brite enough cross the camera's field. Last night I had
two zero magnitudes cross. I might get lucky....but I will see after my
next observing night when I use the roll up. I usually get 3 nights worth on
one roll of film. I was going to observe tonight, but I haven't seen the
wife in about a week...Just thought I oughta show my presence in case there
is any doubt that I belong here. Tomorrow night I will observe. I did get in
another 6 hours last night. Felt very alert, but the Activity was still
very slow. This time I faced the north. I saw only 26 meteors during the
whole period. I did see a nice -2 and a -4 sporadics. The -2 just missed
being captured on film by about 10 seconds. I just stopped an exposure and
the bloody thing appeared dead center where the camera was pointing. It had a
nice burst to it. The -4 had a beautiful green tint with a 4 second
train....nowhere near the camera's field though. Previously I mentioned some
suspicious activity to the north...well, judging from last nights
plots....nothing to get excited about. I won't be working on any reports
until next week. I still plan on observing this coming Saturday/Sunday
night...then zoom in to work...I hope everyone don't get hurt or start any
fires for a few hours. We usually "kick back" on Sundays and only respond in
emergencies. We got that in lieu of a pay raise one year...sure like it. My
work days only falls on a sunday about once a month...but I usually take
advantage of those days if the moon is cooperating. If I can get by with no
calls and get about 2 hours of rest, I'm good for the rest of the shift. I'm
sure Kevin has more activity where he's at...probably different kind of
shifts too.
