Estimation of elevation for meteors when doing counts is better than naming the constellation because some constellations are very large. For example, if a meteor is seen in Ursa Major while its rising, it could be 10 degrees or 60 degrees off! With practice its not hard to estimate elevation to 10 degrees accuracy. GWG
