RE: (meteorobs) Meteor photography

Hello Photographers,

I have no objective tests on B/W films available, but from my own experience and from my Dutch
colleagues I would like to state that Kodak Tri-X, Kodak TMAX 400 and Ilford HP5 perform
similarly. TMAX, however, sometimes disappoints because meteor photographers tend to be a
little bit sloppy in the dark room and TMAX is not very forgiving (absolutely need TMAX developer
and right temperature). For some reason the Agfa 400 film is never used for meteor photography;
I have no idea why.

Regarding the reciprocity failure of B/W films: I always thought that this occurred for a constant
illumination. So, a short exposure by a bright light source (meteor) should not be influenced very
much by a long pre-exposure of weak stray light. Anyway, I suppose that no other effects but
reciprocity are in play, so anyone willing to know should be able to find out using existing text
books (I have no titles available).
