(meteorobs) July 17/18 Observations

Last night (July 17/18) was another clear night. I observed for about 6
hours and plotted 46 meteors...the night was somewhat slower than the
previous night. In the count were 7 Perseids and only 1 Eta Perseid. Bob
picked up at least 3 Eta Perseids last night I believe. As for the Eta
Perseids...they may or may not even be related to the Perseids...but I'm
rather confident that something is there with a radiant for at least July
16/17. One reason for it not being detected prior to now is like what
someone already said... most of the work on the Perseids is done around the
main activity and may have gone unnoticed? Anyhow, the brightest meteor was
a -4 slow poke... I haven't determined if it belonged to a known shower
member of some kind yet...Just may be a sporadic. I'll be doing all my latest
reports either Sunday/and or next week. My next observing night will be
this July 20/21...after that will most likely be on Aug 8/9 as my Perseid
campaign starts.
