You might want to find a copy of IMO's Handbook For Photographic Meteor
Observations by Jurgen Rendtel...his email address is: jrendtel@aipdot de   he
probably could help you in obtaining a copy if you contact him..dot it is
printed in English by the way. Anyhow, there is a section in there dealing
with meteor spectra that might answer some of your immediate questions...As
someone already suggested...IMO's Handbook for Visual Meteor Observers is
suggested reading material.  You can also ask Jurgen about this book as well
as he is one of the editors.
