Your commiseration helped, Graham! It really seems New England and Olde England 
share weather patterns in common: No wonder those Pilgrims felt so at home. :>

BTW, how would subscribers feel about posting weather predictions and updates to 
the list throughout this coming week? Of course, for subscribers outside of 
Europe and North America, this isn't likely to be much use. But in general, I 
can't think of a more dedicated weather-watching group, or a better forum, for 
tracking those big continental weather systems that can be so heart-breaking!
