(meteorobs) automated meteor observation entry?

In a recent post to the 'meteorobs' mailing list, Marc Neijts mentioned that the 
IMO at one time had drawn up plans, and even a prototype of a hand-held device 
and software to automate registering and upload of visual meteor observations.

Is anyone on IMO-NEWS aware of this project, and where the plans and any results 
from it might be obtained? This is a project of significant interest to several 
'meteorobs' subscribers, so any pointers are appreciated. Thanks,
