Another major change in the pattern across North America will take place as a
strong short wave in the Gulf of Alaska pushes a trough towards the West coast
and allows a ridge to form further west and amplifies downstream trough over the
East.. This brings back the pattern which has been dominate for the past eight
months. High pressure remains just off the east coast and will continue to pump
warm, moist air into the region. Height falls across the northern tier of
states will push a cold front slowly east through the Great Lakes. This will
cause convective activity across New England and then across the rest of the
Northeast and mid-Atlantic Friday then further south on Saturday. Drier and
cooler air will follow on Saturday and Sunday as high pressure builds out of
Canada.
