(meteorobs) Aug 8/9 Meteor Results

Perseid Observation results for Aug 8/9, 1996 from Descanso, Calif. USA

Last night for a 7 hour period, I saw 70 meteors total. Their break down is
as follows:

31 Perseids, 8 S. Delta Aquarids, 1 N. Delta Aqaurid, 5 Alpha Capricornids,
3 S. Iota Aquarids, 2 Kappa Cygnids, 2 Piscis Austrinus, and 18 sporadics.

This was under a 6.0 clear skies for most of the night....only a 10 minute
period with 10% cloud cover.

Of the Perseids, there seemed to be a surprisingly high number of brite
meteors this soon prior to the peak...Included in the magnitudes were at
least the following: -1, -2, -5, -1, -3, -3, -6, -6, -3, -2, and a -1. These
were only the brite ones above the 0 magnitude.
