I doubt if anyone in the IMO is working on an extension since very few
observers exceed a LM of 7.5.

Probably the most logical thing to do would be to enter a figure of
7.5+ . 

It would be very difficult to interpret the scale beyond 7.5 on your
own.

Mark's idea of using the AAVSO Atlas may have some merit in this case.

Doesn't everybody wish they had this problem?
