(meteorobs) The Earth's Apex

Your description of the apex is essentially correct. The apex is the
point in the sky in which the Earth appears to be moving. An easy way
to find the apex is that it lies on the ecliptic exactly 90 degrees
west of the sun. 

Like the opposition point (or close to it), the apex is a constant
source of meteors throughout the year. Rates are low but it would be
interesting to see if there is any annual variability.

You would think that September would be the most active month with the
apex high in the morning sky (from the northern hemisphere) in the
Taurus-Gemini area.
