(meteorobs) August 23 Observations

-- [ From: Robert Lunsford * EMC.Ver #2.10P ] --

I held a 4 hour observing session under somewhat strange weather
conditions. When I started at 1am the temperature was 66 F (19C) and
the sky was clear except for a strip of clouds low in the east. As the
first hour progressed midlevel clouds passed to the north and to the
south but managed to avoid my field of view. Also during this hour the
wind began blowing from the east and the temperature began to rise. The
wind blew the remainder of the night with gusts up to 20 mph. Skies
were perfectly during the last 3 hours and the temperature continued to
climb. At quitting time (5am) the temperature was 75 F (24 C).

A few more Perseids were seen tonight and one produced the brightest
meteor of the night, a -2 low in the north. Only 1 possible meteor was
seen coming from the radiant in Cetus and that was borderline being 5
degrees off line at a distance of 20 degrees.
