That often happens - and that object probably went 400 miles past you also.
Harvey Nininger( the father of American meteoritics) criss-crossed the
country that way looking for meteorites. That was the same story in nearly
every account. Good Book - "Find a Falling Star" by H.H. Nininger.

BTW - could I ask for a copy of that clipping. I collect anything to do w/
meteorites. I have a video tape acquired from an LA Calif. TV station showing
the Jan. meteorite fall in Japan. Seems some kid had his cam-corder and got
the whole thing on tape then went and actually found the stone!!
