(meteorobs) Skunks

I have enjoyed reading about the close encounters everyone has had with
these little varmints. My only encounter while observing was many years
ago when I was observing through my telescope in the backyard. Some
movement off to the side caught my attention and it turned out to be a
skunk. I kept very still while he nearly walked over my foot as he
crossed the yard. He was gone in less than a minute with no problems.
I have to tell a story about a friend at work. He has a pet cat that can
enter their house through a small swinging flap built into the door. One
night my friend walked into the kitchen and there eating at the cat dish
was a skunk. Needless to say for the next hour or so the skunk was
master of the house until he had his fill and left. After this happened
a second time he was forced to secure the flap in order to prevent a
smelly accident from occurring in the house.
