Re: (meteorobs) Aries-Triangulids Seen!

Although two meteors is not confirmation by any means, to me it indicates
that the A-T radiant is active this year. In total I have seen 38 meteors
from this radiant, 12 in 1993, 22 in 1994, only 2 in 1995 (Full Moon), and
two thus far this year. The speed seems to be medium, but one of the two
seen September 7/8 left a short train. I will try to get some plots this
week to help to nail down this shower's radiant!

Just a reminder about trains and speed relationships. From everything I can
dig up for non fireball meteors....most trains are formed from meteors of
Fast or Very Fast velocity. If you saw a short meteor with a short train of
roughly medium speed anywhere near a possible radiant, most likely the meteor
will have at least a Fast velocity if sighted about 45 degrees from the
radiant. This meteor sighting indicates a meteor that is faster than the
discriptions of velocities for this possible radiant... the velocities have
been described as to being somewhat medium. Keeping this in mind, I would
think that it would be at least premature to consider at least one of your
two meteor sightings as possible members of an A-T radiant.
