(meteorobs) A-T Meteors Sparse Sept. 11/12
We went to the wilds of West Viginia in search of dark skies and found
them. However, there was a lot of ground fog and haze; but I was still
able to to get three hours of meteor observing in. From 4:34 to 5:35 I was
able to see only two A-T meteors (from Gamma Aries radiant). After an hour
on dense fog I was able to resume, but from 6:28 to 8:31 (2.00 Teff) I saw
only two more A-T meteors (from Alpha Triangulum). What surprised me was
not just the low rates of A-T meteors compaired to 1994 and 1993, but the
obvious Taurid radiant activity reported by Bob Lunsford. I saw 5 meteors
from 6:28 to 8:31 (2.00 Teff) coming from an area very close to the 64 +19
reported by Bob. These and the A-T meteors were plotted. I will be sending
these plots to Bob for ALPO soon.
