(meteorobs) Re: ALPO Lunar Eclipse Activities

Thanks for the reply, Dr. Graham! Weather permitting, I'll try to make star
counts to determine limiting magnitudes throughout the night, including after
fourth contact and after the penumbra exit, to help calibrate the result.

I would make estimates before penumbral and first contacts, but twilight here
will prevent these from being meaningful, I think.

Are there any particular times when I should plan on making limiting magnitude
estimates DURING the eclipse? At second and third contacts, or at mid-eclipse,
or somewhere in between? I guess I'm wondering what would help make my and
others' estimates optimally scientifically useful! And thanks for the advice!

Clear skies (especially Thursday),
Lew Gramer
