(meteorobs) Meteor length question

Hi all, A question - what is the relationship of a meteors length to its
distance from the radiant? I know that the longer a meteor is, the further
away from the radiant it is - and vice-a-versa, but is there any better way
of telling?
For example if a NTA is seen heading to the horizon it has crossed the STA
radiant. How could you tell which shower it belongs to?
